đ˘ From Disney Dreams to Amalfi Coast Plans: Why Even This Travel Pro Uses a Travel Advisor
I distinctly remember the very first time I planned an entire trip. Let's just say it was wayyyy before the age of the Google searches, travel blogs, or TikTok travel hacks.
I must have been about 10 years old, relentlessly bugging my dad about going to Disney World. Probably in an effort to get me off his back, he told me that if I wanted to go so badly, I should go ahead and make all the reservations. Challenge accepted.
I somehow found the number for Mickeyâs Guest Relations (probably from the yellow pages or 411), called them up and started making all kinds of reservations. And when it came time to confirm everything⌠I calmly handed my dad the phone and said, âTheyâre ready for your credit card.â
His face was priceless. But guess what? We went. And a travel star was born. đ
That was the day I earned my flying wings. From that point on, I became the official trip planner of the family. I'd write up itineraries, which later evolved into detailed itineraries: hotel options, directions, and even creating little perforated booklets with maps and activities for each day. And yes, in my teens, I had a color-coded folder system that would put some travel agents to shame..
For a long time, I proudly wore the âI can do it all myselfâ badge.
But then came our 30th wedding anniversary.
Fast forward about 40 years⌠my husband insisted we plan our 30th anniversary dream trip to Amalfi last year with the help of the company's travel planner - and at first I rolled my eyes. I didnât need help. I had my Pinterest boards, Google Sheets, and all the know-how in the world.
âŚRight?
Well, spoiler: we used the advisor.
And while I may or may not have hijacked his process with my own shared spreadsheet (đ
), I also have to admit something bigâŚ
Having someone else manage the logistics?
Coordinate the drivers, ferries, hotels, restaurant reservations, and unexpected weather hiccups?
Offer better options than I ever could have found onlineâeven with 20+ tabs open?
That was the real magic.

What I Can Do for You That AI or Booking Engines Canât:
đ I know what to askâand what to bookâbased on your life stage. Midlife isnât a one-size-fits-all experience. Whether you're craving connection, clarity, or just a break from decision fatigue, I design travel that matches your energy (and your timeline).
đŤ I have connections. Perks like complimentary upgrades, early check-ins, resort credits, and private tours arenât Googleable. Theyâre granted through trusted relationships Iâve built over time.
đ Iâm here if plans shift. Because letâs face itâflights get delayed, luggage gets lost, and sometimes you just need a human on your side.
đ§ I donât just build itineraries. I build experiences. From a spa retreat with your best friends to a romantic reset in the wine countryâyouâll come home with stories, not just receipts.
So yesâI still love planning.
But Iâve learned that sometimes the best thing you can do is let someone else take the reins (and bring their magic, access, and behind-the-scenes skills along for the ride).
